Hwa Chong Commemorates Total Defence Day 2025
On the early morning of 17 Feb 2025, Hwa Chong rallied together in a stirring assembly, standing shoulder to shoulder as student representatives delivered the Total Defence 2025 message to the school, reinforcing the importance of unity and collective readiness.
Beyond the shared camaraderie, confronting Hwa Chongians was a water rationing exercise – an eye-opening firsthand experience that underscored the realities of supply disruptions and the importance of readiness as a school.
At the heart of the event was a vital message of resilience, raising awareness of potential national supply threats and encouraging students to craft their own contingency plans to face such challenges.
Students further engaged with an interactive exhibition from the Defence Collective, deepening their understanding of defence strategies and strengthening their preparedness as both a school and a community.
The Kah Kee Hall came alive as students immersed themselves in a musical performance led by the Singapore Armed Forces Central Band. Voices resonated in unison, singing National Day songs like The Road Ahead and the school anthem, reinforcing a sense of national pride. It was more than just a performance—it was an interactive, enlightening journey into the heart of the Singapore Armed Forces and National Education.
As we commemorate the 41st year of Total Defence Day, Hwa Chong reaffirms its commitment to solidarity and togetherness, ready to overcome any challenges that may come our way. As Singapore navigates heightened volatility and global uncertainty today, this year’s TD41 commemoration stands as a testament to our unwavering spirit and national unity.
