Anatomy Challenge 2026
We are proud to announce that Hwa Chong Institution students have delivered an outstanding performance at The Anatomy Challenge 2026, organised by the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine). With 2 students claiming the top two individual positions and half of our contingent earning Distinctions, and a team crowned overall champions, this year's results stand as a testament to the dedication, rigour, and passion that define the Hwa Chong spirit.
About The Anatomy Challenge
First held in 2017, The Anatomy Challenge is an annual inter-school competition organised by NTU LKCMedicine that brings together students from junior colleges and polytechnics across Singapore. The competition is designed to deepen participants' understanding of human anatomy and biomedical sciences, while fostering intellectual curiosity and a love for the life sciences.
This year's edition was themed "Perceptual Prism", a fitting and thought-provoking lens through which participants were tested on how the five senses enable us to experience, process, and interpret the world around us. From the intricacies of the visual cortex to the mechanics of touch and hearing, the challenge demanded both breadth of knowledge and depth of understanding.
A Stellar Performance by HCI
Hwa Chong Institution fielded 12 students in the Individual Challenge this year. The results were nothing short of remarkable:
-
6 out of 12 students attained a Distinction, reflecting the high level of preparation and scientific aptitude across the cohort.
-
2 students clinched 1st and 2nd Place in the Individual Challenge, placing Hwa Chong at the very top of the competition standings.
These achievements are a reflection of the hard work our students put in — not only in mastering the content, but in developing the analytical and critical thinking skills that a challenge of this calibre demands.

Team Challenge
HCI fielded three teams in the Team Challenge, and one of them advanced to the finals — joining four other finalist teams from Raffles Institution, Anglo-Chinese Junior College, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic. In a gruelling two-hour final that pushed every team to their limits, our students rose to the occasion and emerged in First Place, bringing home the prestigious Anatomy Challenge Championship Trophy and the Professor Low Cheng Hock Challenge Shield. It was a thrilling conclusion to an already exceptional day for HCI.

Gratitude to Our Trainers and Teachers
Behind every great performance is a great support system. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated team of alumni trainers who gave generously of their time and expertise to prepare our participants:
Nasya Savitri Sudharma, Charmaine Chua, Theodore Goh, Foong Zi Heng, Tang Kai Yi, Cherie Ong, Clement Gwee, Cheong Jay Keat, Asher Kong, Vera Yang, Fu Wenbo, and Ryan Lim.
Their willingness to return and invest in the next generation of Hwa Chong students is a beautiful expression of the enduring bonds within our community. The guidance, mentorship, and encouragement they provided were invaluable in shaping our students' preparation and confidence.
We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to our teachers-in-charge, Ms Amanda Tay and Ms Sintha Shanmugam, for their steadfast dedication and guidance throughout the entire journey — from preparation to competition day. Their belief in our students made all the difference.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this achievement, we are also inspired by what it represents — a community that learns together, lifts one another, and strives for excellence in all endeavours. We look forward to seeing our students continue to push boundaries and represent Hwa Chong with pride in the years ahead.
Congratulations once again to all participants, trainers, and teachers involved!
