Cyberthon 2026
On 2 May, over 520 students from 18 schools across Singapore pitted their infocomm expertise against a series of cybersecurity and AI challenges online. On 9 May, contestants gathered at Hwa Chong Institution for the Cyberthon Fiesta — a celebration packed with 11 activity booths, the 2nd Edition of the on-site Cyber Slay Challenge, Tech Trivia, a mass trivia session, and carnival food, whilst awaiting the release of the competition results. Three training sessions were also hosted prior in April to build foundational knowledge.
Cyberthon is an annual collaboration between Hwa Chong Institution, the Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT) and the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS), and this year marks the eighth iteration! It was an honour to have Ms Jasmin Lau, Minister of State (Digital Development & Information, Education), grace the Fiesta as our Guest-of-Honour, where she commended participants for their passion, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking in tackling cybersecurity and AI challenges, while underscoring the importance of human interaction and social skills in today's digital age. Awards were presented alongside Mr Darren Teo, Chief Executive of CSIT, and our principal, Mr Lee Peck Ping.
Understanding (MOU) between CSIT and HCI, witnessed by MOS Lau. This partnership is a major milestone in advancing cybersecurity and AI education in Singapore, bringing an upgraded lab to HCI, new opportunities for educators to deepen their AI expertise, and internship placements with CSIT for students seeking real-world exposure.
Congratulations to HCI's Team "CSIT #1 fans" — Zhao Jianzhi, Cao Xizhen, Soong Yuan Jie Julian, and Jerome Lim Feng — for clinching 1st place overall and the Artificial Intelligence Challenge title in this year's Cyberthon! Your curiosity and perseverance are a true inspiration to all.
Ultimately, we hope that all participants were able to hone and ignite their passion in cybersecurity. Here's to many more years of innovation and excellence — see you at Cyberthon 2027!
